| South Carolina's Employment Situation - December 2011 - Unemployment rate lowest in three years; Employment at highest in 2011 Tue, 24 Jan 2012 09:00:00 EDT The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 9.5 percent in December 2011, a 0.4 percentage point drop from November’s 9.9 percent rate. This marks the fourth consecutive monthly rate drop and is down 1.6 percent from 2011’s high of 11.1 percent in August.
| South Carolina's Employment Situation - November 2011 - Unemployment rate plummets; Employment climbs Tue, 20 Dec 2011 09:00:00 EDT The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 9.9 percent in November, an unprecedented 0.6 percent drop from last month’s 10.5 percent rate. This represents the largest monthly drop since 1976, the first year the Bureau of Labor Statistics made the monthly data series available. The national unemployment rate also saw a significant decrease, from 9 percent in October to 8.6 percent in November.

Fewer job seekers during the month, coupled with stronger employment growth led to the first September to October decline in the rate in five years.
