Resources to help you through SUITS deadline

by Kristin Coulter | Jul 30, 2018

Did you know that in the first quarter of 2018, DEW saw a 34 percent increase in the number of people filing wage reports and tax payments electronically rather than by mail? Why you may ask? The State Unemployment Insurance Tax System (SUITS)—DEW’s upgraded tax portal.

You may be wondering why we switched to SUITS. The system that we were using was old and outdated, but most importantly we wanted the interaction between our business customers and staff to be more secure and convenient with a streamlined platform and more account options under your control.

If you haven’t created an account in the new tax system, we encourage you to do so before July 31, the second quarter filing deadline. Through your SUITS account you will be offered immediate account accessibility and efficient business processing with the capability to submit determinations, maintain your account in real-time, view your rate history and more. Click here to read more about the advantages you have by filing through SUITS.

Another advantage of using SUITS is the flexibility in the way you can make your payments. Click here to learn about how to make sure your payment processes correctly to avoid any late penalties.

There are also several resources on our website, dew.sc.gov/suits, that are available to help you with all aspects of SUITS in a way that works for you:

  • Video tutorials,
  • FAQs,
  • Desk aids,
  • Hints and tips,
  • And more.

As the second quarter filing deadline approaches, July 31, 2018, make sure that your payments and wage reports are received or postmarked by midnight of the filing deadline.
