S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce’s Launch of Mobile App

Puts the Power of the Claim in the Hands of the Claimant

Agency creates another opportunity to make the claims process easy and accessible

Starting today, the Department of Employment and Workforce is excited to offer a new way for UI claimants to certify their weekly claim and monitor their claim status. The free DEW mobile app empowers claimants with the ability to complete their weekly certification requirement right from their smartphone. Claimants can also see the status of their claim, payment history and next available day to certify. Documents and correspondence from the agency will also be available for viewing in the app.

The app also adds convenience and accessibility for individuals certifying each week from rural areas. Once a claimant files the initial claim, they can certify their weekly claim without broadband or a computer. As long as they have access to a smart phone, they can download the app, login and complete the weekly questions to ensure uninterrupted benefits.

“We are very excited about bringing this app to life. As an agency we are continuously looking for new, innovative ways to allow claimants to feel connected to and invested in their claim’s process. This is just one more way the agency is leveraging technology to improve the user experience. This is just the beginning! We are looking at adding additional features and functionality to the app in the near future and will be sure to pass along that good news as the updates are made available,” stated S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce Executive Director, Dan Ellzey.

Key Points:

• Unemployment Insurance (UI) participants are now able to download the free DEW mobile app for completing weekly certifications, review claim update, and view documents and communications available in their portal.
• The DEW mobile app is now available to download on all app-enabled iOS Apple and Android products. Search “SC DEW” in your app store.
• Want to be the first to know about critical program updates, deadlines and requirements? Make sure to enable push notifications, in your smartphone’s settings, to allow notifications to be sent to your phone from the SC DEW app.

NOTE: At this time, filing an initial claim and uploading documents will still need to be completed through a desktop computer, laptop or by signing into their portal through their mobile internet browser at dew.sc.gov. Once completed, claim activity and documentation can be viewed in the app.
