What Jobs Can You Do with a Forklift Certification?

June 9th is National Forklift Safety Day, which was created to highlight the need for operator training and safety education. The ability to operate a forklift is a valuable skill, but it can also be a dangerous one. As such, forklift operators are required to complete formal instruction and hands-on training in order to be forklift certified. Upon completion, forklift operators can use their training in a variety of roles. Let’s take a look at some of the jobs that require forklift certification.
In 2025, there were 1,147 job ads in South Carolina requiring applicants to be forklift certified. [1] The most common sectors looking to hire individuals with forklift certification were transportation and warehousing, which had 190 active job ads, followed by manufacturing with 105 ads. At the occupation level, 274 job ads were for stockers and order fillers. Another 214 were for industrial truck and tractor operators. There were 89 unique occupations with at least one job ad requiring forklift certification in 2025. The figure below shows the ten most common.
