What is the STAYS program?

The STAYS Program encourages veterans to “Stay to Apply Your Skills in South Carolina” by offering five interview opportunities to Veterans who use the SC Works system. Not to mention, DEW and SC Works partners provide well-rounded, intensive support to program participants wanting to find training, employment, and other assistance to build a life right here in South Carolina.

All Veterans and military spouses.

Why South Carolina?

South Carolina has the 8th highest military retiree population in the United States, which means our state is not only military-friendly, but prioritizes our veterans' employment and lifestyle preferences. We have veteran services specialists housed at SC Works centers across the state whose entire purpose is to make it as easy as possible for veterans to transition into civilian life. Employment resources are waiting for you, whether you want to transfer your military skills into a civilian occupation or pursue a brand new career path altogether, and South Carolina offers an enriching, vibrant culture for military families to take advantage of, including the following:

• More than 9,000 acres of protected lands for fishing, camping, and more.
