DEW Executive Director Cheryl Stanton’s Statement

September 2018 Employment Statement

“The month of September was challenging for people in our state as we weathered the devastating effects of two storms. Many jobs were interrupted by the unprecedented events of Hurricane Florence and/or Hurricane Michael,” said Cheryl Stanton, executive director of the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. “Our agency has spent the last several weeks helping individuals and businesses through mobile units that traveled throughout the affected counties, in our work centers and connection points, working with local legislators and officials, as a partner in Gov. McMaster’s County Days and working closely with the media to publicize information to help individuals impacted by the storms. The health of our economy and the resilience of our citizens will help us continue to rally, recover and get back to work. ”
