A new podcast where listeners can learn about the strategic efforts of the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development (CCWD) and topics that explore the Workforce, Opportunities, Resources, and the Key to Success (the WORKS) for South Carolina’s businesses and workers has launched. The WORKS podcast is hosted by William Floyd, Executive Director of the Department of Employment and Workforce and Chair of the CCWD, and each episode features a new guest speaker, including CCWD partners, workforce leaders, industry experts, and public officials who help strengthen our economy and labor force. Recent guests include Office of Statewide Workforce Development (OSWD) Director Rebecca Battle-Bryant and Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, who respectively discussed the OSWD’s guidance on CCWD projects and the importance of soft skills in the workforce, particularly with young people preparing to enter the job market for the first time.

The episodes conclude with an LMI Minute, a segment providing labor market information (LMI) about the topic discussed in each episode. This may be a brief overview of an LMI publication or an explanation of labor market data and trends. Each segment will provide listeners with a better understanding of labor market information, plus resources where they can learn more about the subject matter after the episode ends.
The first two episodes of The WORKS are available now on the Find Your Future SC website at findyourfuture.sc.gov/theworks. If you click on an episode title in the drop-down table, you will find helpful information, including any reports and resources mentioned in an LMI Minute, under each episode’s section. The first LMI Minute segment discusses the Workforce Outcomes One-Pagers, an LMI-produced material with insights into the likelihood that someone will end up working in the profession for which they trained, while the second LMI Minute segment goes over the top soft skills found in job postings in calendar year 2025, as analyzed by JobsEQ.
You can watch or listen to all episodes of The Works on YouTube, learn more about each topic of discussion on findyourfuture.sc.gov, and listen on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services through BuzzSprout RSS.
