"Before the bell rings for school, my day is well on its way. Hours before teachers and students arrive, I make sure classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms are cleaned and welcoming for the day. During the day, while students are in class, I handle whatever comes up. A spill in the cafeteria, moving chairs for an assembly, or fixing something that breaks—I am the person the principal, staff, and kids call on. My favorite part of the day is finding at least one opportunity to give a word of encouragement, make someone laugh, or cheer someone on. Even though I'm busy from sunup to sundown, I do what I do because it keeps the school safe and running smoothly, and the kids and teachers comfortable learning and teaching."
